Precious Nyathi is a mother of three boys aged 23, 12 and 6 years old.  Growing up her dream was to become a teacher and her dreams faded away after she lost both her parents.  She also lost her husband in 2014 and this led her to start a business.  Her challenge was capital to start her business.

Precious met Sylvia, a Phakamani client, who introduced her to Phakamani Foundation and explained what Phakamani does in South Africa.

She loved what she heard and decided to form a group. Unfortunately this was when the covid-19 pandemic hit South Africa and she decided it was too risky to start a business with the related lockdown and restrictions.

In January 2022 Precious was finally able to form a group and applied for a loan of R2000 which she used to buy stock.  She bought clothes which she sells to members of her community and surrounding communities.

She says that her business is doing well and she is planning to diversify into agriculture. Her 23 year old son has just started his studies at college.
