Our newest branch in Siyabwusa has empowered nearly 300 women to start their own microenterprises! We now have more than 8,200 women in the programme at any one time.
Phakamani has strengthened its management capacity with the addition of several experienced branch managers and two new positions of project manager and audit officer. This is a reflection of our commitment to maintain quality in the programme even as we grow.
Phakamani was asked by a South African government agency to take over a number of clients from another microfinance institution in the area. We were pleased with their vote of confidence and have decided to allow the clients to apply in as new clients to Phakamani, if they wish.
We recently said good-bye to Allison Scuriatti, an international volunteer who worked for two years to establish a stronger communications and development function at Phakamani.
