A 12th Phakamani branch has begun operations in the KwaMahlangu area of Limpopo.
South Africa’s Bankseta and Small Enterprise Finance Agency (SEFA) have sponsored professional training for our staff in the areas of customer service, coaching and fraud detection. This is a fantastic supplement to our in-house training programmes.
Phakamani’s new volunteer team in the USA has already raised enough to fund a new Phakamani branch!
We recently welcomed our Australian fundraising partners Richard Beaumont from Hopes and Dreams, and Brad and Shelley Arcus from Ripple Effect. Brad and Shelly also helped us out by working in the field for ten days.
Our CEO, Mark Tucker, met with microfinance association leaders from southern African countries during the 6th African Microfinance Conference in Durban. Mark is chairman of AMFISA, the Association of Pro-poor Microfinance Organisations of South Africa.
